We are thrilled to announce that Easygrow is taking a significant step towards sustainability with the introduction of CIRCULOSE® in our products! Developed by Renewcell in Sweden, CIRCULOSE® represents the next generation raw material for textile production. By utilizing 100% recycled textiles, such as the worn-out jeans tucked away in your closet, CIRCULOSE® replaces the use of new materials like cotton or wood-based viscose fibers.
This initiative underscores Easygrow's commitment to offering high-quality products with environmentally friendly solutions. We aim to lead the way in sustainability within the baby equipment industry.
What is CIRCULOSE®?
CIRCULOSE® represents a new chapter in the textile industry, with Renewcell, our partner in Sweden, behind this groundbreaking technology. This is the next generation raw material for textiles, made by extracting cellulose from worn-out clothes and textiles. Brands choose CIRCULOSE® because it replaces the need for new materials like cotton, oil, or wood-based materials.
Made from 100% recycled textiles, CIRCULOSE® transforms textile waste into a "dissolving pulp," which can be used to produce viscose, lyocell, modal, and other types of regenerated fibers. These fibers are then spun into yarns, woven or knitted into fabrics, and finally crafted into new high-quality textile products.
Why is CIRCULOSE® more sustainable?
CIRCULOSE® is considered more sustainable because it is made from recycled materials, and its production process uses minimal water and chemicals compared to traditional viscose production. Additionally, CIRCULOSE® originates from cellulose, which is biodegradable, meaning it will naturally decompose over time. CIRCULOSE® is also manufactured using 100% renewable energy at the factory in Sweden.
As it stands today, only 1% of clothes are recycled back into clothes. With textile recycling, society can avoid the landfilling and incineration of textile waste. Using CIRCULOSE® instead of wood, cotton, or oil to make clothes and other textile products is a way we can reduce the climate and environmental impact of the textile industry.
How is CIRCULOSE® made?
1. CIRCULOSE® begins with discarded textiles or production waste, with a preference for cotton fabrics due to their high cellulose content.
2. The clothes are shredded, unbuttoned, opened, bleached, and transformed into a pulp, removing contaminants like polyester. What remains is cellulose, an organic polymer found in cotton, trees, and most green plants.
3. The pulp is dried to produce sheets of pure CIRCULOSE®, which are then sent to fiber producers to be turned into virgin-quality fibers. Brands design and produce new clothes and textile products using fibers made from CIRCULOSE®.
